Blanche Le Croix

Blanche Le Croix was a young woman from France who came to Cripple Creek as a “Meyers Avenue Girl” at the turn of the last century. She had an affair with her boss and delivered a baby firl in 1920 who was sent to live with a family in Kansas. She also had acid thrown in her face by her boss’s jealous wife and wore a veil for most of her life. She died penniless in a cabin near here. Residents who grew up here remember her giving out oatmeal cookies if they had the gumption to go near her cabin. A year after her death her daughter finally found her and came to Cripple Creek.
